About Matthew

Matthew McDonald walking out to the ring, sparklers behind him

Matthew McDonald is a professional boxer from Irvine, Ayrshire. He's a southpaw, he boxes at welterweight (147 lb), and he's unbeaten at 4–0.

He walked into a boxing gym at 16 and had his first amateur bout a year later. As an amateur he became Western District champion and Scottish Senior champion, and boxed for Scotland in the elite national squad.

He turned pro in September 2025, which he'd wanted to do since he started. He's slick, but he'll stand and fight when he has to.

He lives in Ayrshire and trains in Glasgow. He's managed by Iain Wilson and promoted by St Andrew's Sporting Club.

The aim is to make his name in Scottish boxing, fight for domestic titles, and then go on to British and world level.

Follow him on Instagram and TikTok for fight news, camp updates and what goes on behind the scenes.
